Job Description:

Due to additional workload, we are seeking a Planning Assistant with prior experience in a similar role, to join our client. Our client are very open-minded and flexible with regards to considering this role as a full time/ part time position and would be happy to consider those who wish to work from home, however this is not a permanent position and would instead be offered on a three or six month contract basis. Our client are a well-established business and from their Diss offices, offer building consultancy services to a variety of clients. Their team includes a Chartered Architect, Chartered Planner, Chartered Surveyor, Architectural Technologist plus support staff. This small, friendly and busy team provide services such as architectural design, building regulation drawings and advice, commercial and residential building/estate design, feasibility studies, interior design, barn and loft conversions as well as 2D and 3D drawings. The purpose of this recruit is to support the Principal Planner in his workload. The duties will involve:
  • Planning history search
  • Planning Policy search and analysis
  • Monitoring emerging local plans and strategies
  • Research changes to planning guidance and legislation
  • Preparation of initial planning feasibility analysis for Principal's review
  • Preparation of Planning Statements
  • Instruction of expert reports and liaison with Consultants
  • Collation of planning application documentation
  • Monitoring of planning application submission and progression
  • Collation of planning appeal documentation
  • Preparation of appeal statements and statements of case
  • Providing updates to Principal Planner on projects
  • Carry out work in accordance with all Quality Control requirements.
  • Attend meetings as required
Skills required:
  • Hold RTPI qualification or working towards RTPI status (ideally) / graduate and/or post graduate relevant planning qualifications with some planning experience or prior experience in a similar role
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and organisational skills
  • IT Literate and ability to use wide range of computer software
  • Driving licence and own transport
  • A good team work ethic, a friendly nature and good sense of humour
