Location: Caister

Hours: 35 Hours per week - 5 Days out of 7 Mon to Sun
An exciting opportunity has presented itself for an experienced charity shop manager to join our very busy Caister shop.

Previous experience is essential and also able to lead a team of volunteers Must be able to drive.

Job Requirements:

JOB SUMMARY

To take full responsibility for the smooth running of the shop and to ensure current legislation and the shop Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To ensure timely despatch of all necessary paperwork, which has been checked for accuracy.
  2. To ensure that the Staff Handbook and associated policies and procedures is understood and followed at all times.
  3. To maintain a clean and well-presented shop at all times.
  4. To ensure that only saleable goods (including electrical) are displayed.  Organise PAT testing as required.  Comply with Trading Standards regulations.
  5. To work towards meeting the agreed financial targets set for the shop.
  6. Promote Gift Aid to anyone donating items to the shop.
  7. To promote the shop locally.  This could be by participating in community events, whenever appropriate.
  8. To undertake training as necessary.
 MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To ensure all Health & Safety/Fire regulations are understood and complied with at all times.
  2. Working closely with the Director of Retail Management to suggest strategies for increasing income from the shop and to implement such agreed strategies.
  3. To train and manage volunteers working in the shop, ensuring compliance with the ECH  Policies and Procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
  4. To be responsible for the security of the shop, volunteers and stock at all times.
  5. To organise the volunteers’ rota in order to ensure the shop is open during the agreed hours, and to advise the Director of Retail Management whenever a problem is envisaged in keeping the shop open.
  6. To organise cover for all annual leave and days off.  Leave will not be authorised unless this has been done.
  7. To have a proactive approach to Volunteer recruitment and support.
  8. To attend Shop Management meetings as required.
 
PERSONNEL RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To recognise indications of staff stress and to facilitate staff support.
  2. To participate in the induction and training of all new staff as required.
ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. To work within the policies of ECH at all times.
  2. To ensure effective use of resources.
  3. To respect at all times the confidentiality of information related to volunteers.
  4. In order to maintain the continuity of service, it may be necessary for you to cover at another shop as a result of unplanned absence.
